Wassup?

Ok, so I don't know who, if anyone is reading this blog, but who cares? I'ma do it anyway. So yeah, I just spent the past hour and a half doing the whole 'indie cred' thing. If you don't know what indie cred is, go read Questionable Content. He was playing some music and we got into an unspoken contest of who's got the best music in their arsenal. We ended in a tie. Next, my BAND OF THE DAAAYYY!!!

Today's band is a rather obscure band from the Northampton, MA area. Probably one of the most creative band names ever. The band is actually some comic characters but the writer of the webcomic makes the music. He plays guitar and uses his computer to make the rest of the instruments. His music has zero lyrics but the story it tells is usually very clear. Any guesses who it is? It's Jeph Jacques, author of Questionable Content (durr)!!!!!! The band's name is Deathmøle. Awesome name. If you haven't listened to his stuff, go check it out at http://www.questionablecontent.net/mp3 or just google Deathmøle. (Deathmole works as well and for you mac users, to do the ø symbol, hold option and hit the letter o)

This episode of Scarlet Throne's Band of the Day is brought to you by the letter ø.

Woo!

So yeah, just so you guys know, I don't care if you like bands that other people call 'gay' or 'emo' or whatever. I listen to everything from Kelly Clarkson to My Chemical Romance to Mozart. So long as it doesn't involve Laderhosen and a tuba, or the words Hanson, 'Nsync, Backstreet, Montana, or Jonas, I probably listen to it. Which brings me to my BAND OF THE DAAAYY!

Every day (at least, every day that I remember to post), I will talk about a specific band that I am into. Today's band is the (semi) popular Apocalyptica! OK, so pretty much everyone with a heartbeat has heard of and/or listened to Metallica. Many, many people like them. I for one love them. If you haven't heard of Apocalyptica, they are a Finnish band (that means from Finland for all you unedumacated persons out there) consisting of four men. Those men are Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Mikko Sirén. They do Metallica covers but with a twist. Every song consists of Mikko playing drums and the other three playing cellos. It sounds awesome. They don't ordinarily use vocals, but they do songs featuring singers like I Don't Care feat. Adam Gontier (Three Days Grace) or I'm Not Jesus feat. Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) and many more. Their version of Enter Sandman is incredible, and you can almost hear the cellos singing for them. If you haven't checked them out yet, do so as soon as possible. Metalheads and classical nuts alike will enjoy these guys.

Hi there!

This blog will be mostly about music and webcomics. As soon as possible, Scarlet Throne will become a webcomic.

OK, first, I have made the decision that the best webcomic on the net is Questionable Content. If you haven't heard of it, it's a slice of life comic about indie rocker Marten Reed and his friends. It is about fun, friends, anthro-computers, and indie music. Go check it out now at http://www.questionablecontent.net where Jeph Jacques (the artist) also has a tutorial on how he makes his comics, music by the band formed within the comic strip, and alot of other cool stuff. That's all for now!
